July 2, 2010 Garden Photos

The first tomatoes are starting to get a little bit of color. They should be ready to pick in a few days.

This week we started to pick papalo to garnish tacos.

The tobacco is going strong. Used as a fresh herb it adds a green spiciness to our slow cooked pork.

Purslane is nice raw in salads and unlike most other tender greens it loves the hot summer sun.

These potato vines grew out of last year's compost. It took me a while to figure out what they were, but once I did I was glad that I let them grow.

Soybeans help to replenish nitrogen in the soil.
